UNIVERSAL & INCLUSIVE DESIGN

OUR APPROACH

A home should do more than look beautiful. It should perform beautifully over time.

At Rendezvous Design®, accessibility is never an add-on. It is built into the plan from the start: how you move from room to room, how light falls, what feels good underfoot, and how every space is scaled to you. The result is a home for rest, relaxation, and renewal that makes everyday life easier.

WHY IT MATTERS

Patricia Kennedy speaking with fellow panelists during an inclusive design discussion at High Point Market

As a designer with acquired neurodivergence, Kennedy learned firsthand how light, sound, and layout can calm or overwhelm the nervous system. That experience now informs every Rendezvous home: luxury interiors built to support cognition, mobility, and vitality across decades. She speaks nationally on Universal, Inclusive and Neuro-informed Design.

Proprioceptive sequencing · Physiological harmony · Biophilia

Calm for the senses.
Layered lighting you can tune, materials that soften sound, and textures chosen for comfort.

Layered sensory integration · Acoustic & light calibration

02 NeuroSensorial Design®

A home that keeps you well.
Bedrooms built for deep sleep, plus kitchens, fitness, and recovery spaces that make healthy habits easy.

Habit optimization · Nutrition, fitness, sleep & recovery zones

03 Salutogenic Alignment

Storm to Sanctuary

2025 IDS ‘Designer of the Year’ Winner, Universal Design

When Hurricane Ian collapsed the roof of this 1983 Florida kitchen, the kitchen was redesigned to be safer and easier to use long-term, in the ocean blues the client loved.

  • Removed a dangerous step-down between rooms

  • Opened walls for wider, wheelchair-friendly passage

  • New seated-height quartzite counter for working while seated

  • Pull-out drawers & open shelving instead of deep, hard-to-reach cabinets

  • Slip-resistant flooring throughout

AFTER- UNIVERSAL DESIGN

“I WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME SOONER”

“After months of insurance delays, Patricia of Rendezvous Design reinvented my storm-ravaged kitchen into a serene Coastal Country retreat. Her clear renderings and discreet accessibility features—wider passages, slip-resistant flooring, and adaptive work spaces—gave me confidence and independence.

When I broke my hip on move-in day, those thoughtful choices allowed an early discharge and a safe, dignified recovery at home.” — Sheryl B.
